Chelsea vs Barcelona | Key Moments | UEFA Champions League 2025

Chelsea vs Barcelona

Hello everyone. Well, it’s not a bad thing to do on a Tuesday, is it? Settling back to take in Chelsea versus Barcelona. Great clubs of the game who can both call themselves European champions and meeting now for the 18th time in their illustrious histories. and there have been some good ones with plenty of moments of drama and controversy mixed in.

It’s uh a bit of a landmark fixture as well. It is Chelsea’s 100th home game in the Champions League. Although there is a a curiosity in that fact in that 98 of them have been on this pitch. One of them in the the co times was played in Seville. That was when they played Porto. It was in the quarterfinals, wasn’t it? Towards the end of the the 2021 campaign.

Suenzo Fernandez has the first kick of the night. Back to goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who will play it long and get that ball up into Barcelona territory. both on seven points following their first four Champions League league phase fixtures this season. both dynamic going forward but with a a certain defensive vulnerability estival just got himself a little bit of room blocked by Valde Chelsea corner he’s taking the corner quick and short to Gacho didn’t get the lift Chelsea still might get the chance They have and it’s been

scored. Fernandez away celebrating, but now the referee’s whistle has gone and he’s given hand ball. He wasn’t waiting for any sort of V check on that. He’d seen it for himself. Well, let’s see. Yeah, I think the referee called it, didn’t he? Straight away. It’s It’s a short corner. Gonacho gets it into a dangerous area.

Barcelona don’t deal with it. And it’s just there, isn’t it? I think that’s where he thinks the hand ball we can see maybe a little bit better here. Oh, yeah. It’s there, isn’t it? You can just see the the hand ball. It goes from his chest onto his arm, but the referee spotted it. And then Fernandez puts it in. Just a turn. A turn with a flourish.

Kundai got a bit more of Ganacho than he did the ball. Free kick Chelsea. Yeah, he did. You know, it’s a good touch from from Garnacho and just kicks his foot, doesn’t he? It’s enough for Stavo to deliver. Really good ball in two and headed in. Chelsea arms outstretched. Enzo Fernandez is saying, “Was it me?” It’s not going to be a goal again.

And a little bit of a roar of approval from Chelsea supporters at the fact that the game hasn’t restarted just yet. Yeah. Yeah. So, Chalab’s definitely offside, isn’t he? Does he Does it touch him? Now, if he doesn’t touch it, does that mean it’s okay? Well, I can tell you it doesn’t because the check is over. It will stay nil nilach through the cooker.

Cookare can be his time here. And that one has rolled in and that one will count. Chelsea players all over the field jumping for joy. Went in off Kundai. All of the boys in blue rush to Mark Cookera for the part that he’s played in the goal. A big part. Well, they absolutely deserve this Chelsea. They obviously take the the short corner and once the the ball gets through to Kuka, is he on side? That’s the only question.

And that’ll be something that I’m c I’m sure will be checked. But once he gets into this area, you wonder should he have crossed it a little bit sooner? Absolutely not. Manages to get a yard, get the delivery into a dangerous area. Netto get something on it. And in they just can’t keep the ball out. It’s a real mess defensively, but Chelsea certainly deserve a goal.

Well, they might not have got one. Lamin, no free kick says the referee disbelief. Here’s the reaction of Laminhal St. Lag offside. That is a Barcelona ball. Ronaldo. He’s still arguing with the referee about the lack of a free kick for Lamin. And he’s talked too much. She’s got a yellow card. Kareah got there first.

Arjo then got him. Arjo’s already on a yellow card and Barcelona are going to go down to 10 players. Cooker made that happen. Barcelona have lost their skipper. It really is advantage Chelsea now. Not a hint of complaint from Arjo. Sent off for the fifth time in his Barcelona career. Listen to what that’s done around the stadium. Hark at that noise.

So Fernandez Garnacho just had to wait. Beats Kundai and it’s there. Andre Santos has doubled Chelsea’s lead or has he? It’s another one. The flag up for offside. Goodness me. A hattick of goals ruled out. Oh, Chelsea would be so disappointed if this one’s ruled out. There’s a way out towards Balde, but well anticipated by Andre Santos.

Now James. Now it’s the bow taking on Kavasi and getting past him. Oh, magnificent. That’s what he’s about. Esta is a shining star. 2-0 Chelsea against 10 men Barcelona. Stunned expressions amongst the traveling supporters. Unconfined joy for the Chelsea fans. They’re seeing a wonderful team performance tonight.

But in amongst it all, they’ve got exactly what they really came to see. Something special from that young man. He scored in three Champions League games in a row. He scored five in his last nine all told for Chelsea. Only starting four of those. And he’s made the points that little bit more secure this evening. Chelsea 2, Barcelona nil to get Chelsea back up and flying again.

It’s Pedro Netto and he is flying. He’s got past Kavasi. Pedroneta stopped by Gru Garcia. Nearly went all the way. You can see he’s trying to just lift it over the top of him and he can’t quite get underneath it. It’s a good save in the end. Narrows the angle down. Unlucky that from Neto. Hernandez to the left hand side.

Played in by Netto. He plays it to Dap and Dap makes it three, but it’s another one that’s not going to stand. Is that four or five? I’ve lost count. Think it’s four. Wow. I think Enzo Fernandez, I think you’re right. I think he might have just lent himself offside. Big shame for Liam Dilap. This could be his first snapper bridge goal for Chelsea.

If Enzo Fernandez is onside from that Pedro Netto pass, it is mightily tight. It won’t be given or will it? It will be given. It will be given. Chelsea have got a third. It’s as though Barcelona don’t want to start again. The night for them finished some time ago. The night for some Chelsea fans will have only just started. What a performance Enzo Moresque’s boy blues have put in.

One n up at Halime. Jeeel Kundai forced to bundle into his own net after a Kucharella ball in caused chaos. Then it was Esau’s turn to light up the night with a sparkling second goal before Liam Datap put the seal on things. Three points for Chelsea, three goals for Chelsea on a night they’ll remember for some time to come.
